NUCA
of New Mexico has member participation on the NUCA Board of Directors. In addition to the two members automatically placed on the NUCA Board, NUCA of New Mexico has additional elected members. This allows members the opportunity to problem solve with their peers.
NUCA continues its commitment to provide the best experience possible for utility contractors and suppliers attending their annual convention. Every third year, NUCA hosts a Heavy Equipment Show displaying underground construction equipment, supplies and services, full of the largest innovations and technology available for utility contractors.
EDUCATION
Through NUCA of New Mexico, members have access to a wide range of seminars and conferences. The NUCA of New Mexico Safety Committee is a vital and growing part of the Association. benefiting all members by offering safety courses, training, videos and speakers. Learn what your obligations are under OSHA regulations, learn to be a Competent Person, learnhow to develop a safety program for your employees, and a sure way to retain your best employees.
NUCA of New Mexico has a 16 page colorbook named "DIGBY," it was developed as an avenue in teaching children the dangers of playing around construction sites and digging in unstable soil. The colorbook, which has been distributed nationwide, is a great public relation's tool and is available to members.
NUCA's reference materials are available to all members through either the local or national offices. Everything from Safety, Supervisory, Communication, and Financial is available at nominal cost to members.
The NUCA Scholarship Award is presented each year to any senior high school student who is a son or daughter of a NUCA member, or an employee of a member firm. The $8000 award is paid out in increments of $2000 for a period of four years.
UP-TO-DATE INFORMATION
Regular association newsletters, press releases, legislative alerts, and a national monthly magazine will keep you on top of the latest regulatory developments and inform you on how they will affect your business. You will also receive a listing of the City of Albuquerque Construction Projects list as soon as it is released.
LEGISLATIVE CLOUT
Association lobbyists on the state and national level ensure that your voice is heard in Congress, in the State legislature and Federal regulatory agencies.
NUCA of New Mexico is very active in the local and state legislative process. We have been instrumental in passing new legislation and improving existing legislation that affects the utility contractor. NUCA of New Mexico also meets frequently with City of Albuquerque Public Works Officials.
Our members have received appointments to the New Mexico State Apprenticeship Council, OSHA Review Board, a committee position on the New Mexico Public Utilities Commision, and the Governor's Blue Ribbon Committee to develop Construction Industry Division legislation.
